description

About the Fund

Aavishkaar Fund VIII is the eighth and largest vehicle from India's pioneer impact investment manager, targeting ₹1,000 Crore in committed capital. The fund invests in the Category I Social Venture AIF framework, targeting enterprises serving economically excluded populations across financial inclusion, agri-value chains, affordable healthcare, clean energy, and sanitation. Impact measurement follows the IRIS+ taxonomy with annual third-party verification.

Fund VIII uses a blended finance structure where DFI first-loss capital from IFC, FMO, and USAID — contributing approximately 15% of fund size — reduces overall portfolio risk for commercial LPs while expanding the eligible investment universe to earlier-stage or smaller enterprises. This concessional cushion allows the fund to simultaneously deliver superior social outcomes and risk-adjusted financial returns across a broader enterprise spectrum.
